In the
study ”The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity” agricultural systems are
classified into two types: “Low impact types of agriculture”
and ”Intensive agriculture”. But what the world needs and what
we try to achieve is :”Low impact high yielding agriculture”.
Let us hope this could be a winning concept.

The leading
theme in this blog can be summarized as follows:
Our global
requirements increase. The human society grows.
Satisfying
the requirements demands resources and causes environmental load,
What we
should have is growth without increasing the environmental load.
For
agriculture there are some opportunities to achieve this combination
without increased costs or even with some economic advantage.
But it is
necessary to focus on these opportunities. Can it be called Focus Foresight?
Earlier
this evening I had a meeting/discussion with a group of prominent farm
managers.
Did they
accept my line of thinking? Yes.
Did they
feel an engagement for environment ? Yes – but the problem often is that a
specific measure often has two sides, both positive and negative. Confusion
does not promote action.
Focus
Foresight? Yes. Neither the word (Swedish version) nor the idea were rejected.
Soil
organic matter? Yes, definitely an important issue. If it is known how to work
with it.
Really an
encouragement to continue.
And this
week Farming Perspectives has started being used in practical advisory work (
by the project Focus on Nutrients).
